Oslo's biggest family Christmas market is Jul i Vinterland in Spikersuppa, running from 7 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 with free entry. The most traditional market is at the Norwegian Folk Museum on Bygdøy, with over 100 stalls on two weekends (5-6 and 12-13 December 2026). Smaller options are the design market at SALT, the handmade market at Sentralen and Jul på Bogstad.

Many love the atmosphere with bonfires, lights, animated puppets and a good choice of food; children enjoy the carousels and skating. Critics think it gets worse year by year: mostly food, mass-produced goods at inflated prices and poor toilets.

Oslo's big family Christmas market. Come for the atmosphere and activities, not for crafts. If you want handicrafts, choose the Folk Museum or Bærums Verk.

Christmas at Bogstad (Jul på Bogstad)

A Christmas market at the manor Bogstad: market stalls, Christmas-decorated rooms, Christmas workshop, storytelling, fire pits and animals in the barn.

      • Open Christmas museum and Christmas-decorated rooms
      • Big Christmas workshop and storytelling
      • Fire pits, Christmas porridge, gløgg and animals in the barn

      What visitors say

The manor with its animals, park and café gets a lot of praise. About the Christmas market, one visitor complained about paying for a ticket (140 NOK in 2023) to stand in a queue in the courtyard without enough entertainment for the price.

A nice, old-fashioned alternative to the centre for families with children: one weekend with a Christmas workshop and rooms. Come early to avoid queues.
