What visitors sayGoogle 3.9 ★ · 53 reviews
Fans praise a long, well-run trail with world-class installations, marshmallow fires and easy pre-booked parking. Recent reviews are more mixed: some found 2024–25 shorter with dark gaps, food very expensive (£12–15 mains), hilly muddy paths for buggies and wheelchairs, and one toilet block on the route.
One of England's top light trails — pair it with the market for a full evening.

What's on
Christmas at Blenheim Palace runs from Friday 13 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, daily 10.00–20.00. After dark the Illuminated Trail leads through the gardens and grounds with more than a million lights and Father Christmas along the way. Inside, the Palace tells the story of Cinderella room by room — from the Christmas tree in the Great Hall to the glass slipper, a Christmas wedding and the pumpkin carriage.
Skating and the market
The Great Skate is a covered ice rink in the Great Court. The Christmas Market, also in the Great Court, trades from 13 November to 20 December 2026 — come before the 20th if you want the stalls as well as the lights.
Tickets
Christmas is ticketed separately from normal Palace admission, with limited capacity and timed entry; a combined ticket covers the trail after dark and Cinderella inside the Palace. No Blenheim discounts or gift certificates apply over the festive period, and annual pass holder discounts don't apply on 5, 6, 12, 13 and 19 December.
What visitors say
On Mumsnet in 2025 parents warned that the trail, the Palace and parking are booked separately, so the total adds up for a family, and that you should leave time to park and walk to your timed slot. The market splits opinion — lovely to some, pricey food to others — while the main lights are in the gardens after dark. Visitors who went at the earliest slot found shorter queues and room for photos, and bringing your own flask saves the hot-chocolate queue. If you donate your Palace ticket, the Palace lets you convert it to an Annual Pass.
The wheel and afternoon tea
A festive Observation Wheel gives a bird's-eye view over the Christmas site. For a longer day, the Orangery Restaurant serves a Cinderella-themed «Happy Ever Afternoon Tea», booked in advance alongside a combined trail-and-Palace ticket.
Parking and dogs
Parking for the event is chargeable for everyone and should be pre-booked; Blue Badge parking is at Hensington, and mobility scooters can't be hired for the light trail. Dogs are not allowed in the Palace or on the trail — except assistance dogs and on the designated dog-friendly nights listed by the Palace.
